Natanz Steel Complex

Natanz Steel Melting Company was established in 2001 on an area of 80 hectares on the side of Tehran-Isfahan highway in Natanz city.

The purpose of establishing this steel billet production company was to supply a part of the country’s steel market and factories for the production of steel sections.

Having other infrastructural facilities such as water, connection to city gas lines, connection to nationwide railway lines for transporting raw materials and manufactured products, etc., which are all provided at the factory site, is one of the opportunities of this huge complex.

The company’s activity started with the implementation of the first phase of steel ingot production. Simultaneously with the progress of the steel industry in the country and preventing the import of this strategic product and in line with the realization of the development goals, the company increased the production of steel ingots by upgrading the capacity of electric arc furnaces, building the second phase of the development plan. The implementation of a 230 kilowatt double-circuit substation and the construction of a 53-kilometer power transmission line from Ardestan city to the factory are among the other projects implemented in this complex. The company’s production line received an operating license on 4/5/92 It has been able to provide more than 750 job opportunities for local and expert workers from all over the country.

The required scrap is transferred to the electric arc furnace after the processing and recycling of the scrap and the removal of impurities for the complete steelmaking process, and then the sponge iron is transferred to the furnace by conveyor machines in a fully automatic manner. After creating the necessary heat by electric arc force and with a temperature of over 1700 degrees, the materials transferred to the furnace, including scrap iron – sponge iron and other ferroalloys, are transformed into molten materials, and then refined and alloyed by adjusting the analysis of molten materials according to the consumption order. are transferred to LF and VOD furnaces, and after that, by transferring to a continuous casting machine, the molten material is converted into steel ingots with dimensions of 125×125 and 150×150 and with a length of 12 meters, and the produced ingots are ready to be sent. Being in the market.

Raw materials for steelmaking include scrap iron and sponge iron, which enter the complex through the collection of scrap iron from all over the country and the purchase of sponge iron from its producing units, and after storing the sponge iron in special depots. And the scrap iron processing in the relevant units is transferred to the main steelmaking hall for use. The composition of raw materials in the steel production line is charged in the form of sponge iron (DRI) at a ratio of 90% and scrap at a ratio of 10% in melting furnaces.
